Date: April 23, 2016
Location: Cooper River at Gateway Park, Pennsauken Twp, NJ
Haul: 10,151 lbs.
We partnered with Subaru of America, Inc. for our 6th annual cleanup of Cooper River in celebration of Subaru Loves The Earth month, at Gateway Park in New Jersey!
Despite heavy rain, more than 120 volunteers from Pennsylvania and New Jersey turned out to deep clean the river and surrounding park for several hours. They worked hard to remove heavy debris, tires (over 2 dozen), and household trash. Weird finds included a message in a bottle, retro Coca Cola bottle, stuffed fish, golfball collection and 1970's hospital tag.
Special thanks to the dedicated volunteers (including local Geocachers and Rutgers University—Camden), 1-800-GOT-JUNK? -Philadelphia/South Jersey chapter- for the trash removal, the Delaware River Port Authority - DRPA,Pennsauken Township Police Department, Camden County Prosecutor's Office of New Jersey and the local Subaru of America, Inc. dealers for their support, and Gaetano's of Cherry Hill for the delicious post-cleanup pizza.
