Date: May 16th, 2015
Location: Cooper River Marina, Charleston, SC
Haul: 813 lbs.
Over 40 volunteers joined United by Blue for a unique cleanup along the Cooper River Marina in Charleston, SC. Not only did volunteers remove over 800 lbs. of trash from the river, but they also planted oyster shell beds along the marina to ensure the vitality of the waterway. Oysters are critical to preventing waterway erosion and filter thousands of gallons of water an hour, keeping the river clean and healthy. Special thanks to Eco Swim and Belk, whose cooperation and support helped make the event possible.
