United by Blue and a crew of about 100 volunteers gathered at Penn Treaty Park on Tuesday night for a cleanup of the river and the surrounding land. Other than a large volume of small pieces of plastic and glass, volunteers found tires, rusted fencing and plenty of weird trash: a Samsung cellphone, fish tank, "personal toy", video tape collection, and a few waterlogged books. After the cleanup, of-age volunteers enjoyed a cold beverage courtesy of Barcade.
Special thanks to our wonderful volunteers, including groups from Levi's, Youth Volunteer Corps Philly, Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia and supporting partners Philadelphia Water, Philadelphia Parks and Recreation, Klean Kanteen for providing reusable drinking cups and The Living Room Cafefor supplying tasty snacks for all volunteers!
