On December 8th, 2018,  United By Blue,   Lazy Dog Restaurants,   REI, and   Bolsa Chica Conservancy  joined forces for a cleanup of the vital wetlands and coasts within the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve!

Joined by 208 volunteers, the crew was able to remove 1,087 lbs. of trash and recycling from the wetlands in just two hours. Among typical beach trash like plastic bottles and cigarette butts, some larger and interesting items were also pulled in. Our Weird Trash Competition winners hauled a Barbie, a couch cushion, and some DVD's out of the wetlands. Besides trash removal, some volunteers also assisted with invasive species removal. The team pulled in 23 bags of non-native plants from the wetlands, leaving the naturally growing plants to thrive.

Following the cleanup, volunteers enjoyed a free catered lunch provided by Lazy Dog. Thanks to our partners and volunteers for a wonderful beach and wetlands cleanup!
