Haul
629 lbs.
On a cloudless Saturday morning, 74 volunteers gathered at the famed U.S. National Whitewater Center to clean along a 2-3 mile stretch of the Catawba River. In just 2 hours, volunteers removed 629 lbs. of trash! Many volunteers took to the water, paddling out on a USNWC kayak and removing trash from along the shore. Weird trash recovered included a turtle skeleton (in shell), discarded underwear, rusty fishing pole and a minute dose of maryjane.
Special thanks to our volunteers and partners: Subaru of America and the U.S. National Whitewater Center.
