Haul
4,200 lbs.

On October 3, 123 volunteers joined United by Blue,   Philadelphia Water Department, and  Natural Lands for a cleanup of the Delaware River and piers around Pier 68.

Volunteer broke out into teams divided among the vacant piers that surround pier 68. They worked tirelessly for 2 hours hauling away trash that accumulated in the pavement and river bank. From large abandoned construction debris, to small bits of Styrofoam and endless plastic bottles, the volunteers were able to haul away an impressive 4200 lbs of trash and recycling!  In their quest for trash, volunteers even found some strange items, including animal bones, a rocking horse, and Office software from 2007!

Each volunteer was rewarded for their hard work with a delicious dinner courtesy of Cabot's Gratitude Grille

United by Blue thanks all partners for making this cleanup possible:  PWD, Natural Lands, and Cabot.

United by Blue thanks   Zipcar  for its transportation support during our 2017 season.
