The cleanup will be held at Little Bay Park in Queens, a waterfront natural haven complete with running trails, beachfront park land, and a roller hockey rink. While the park is used and enjoyed by many, the coastline of Little Bay can experience litter issues due to the flow of the East River. As an inlet, debris that flows into the bay can get trapped along the shoreline and harm wildlife habitat as well as affect the park shorelines. The litter that gets trapped in Little Bay can also have a larger effect on the East River ecosystem, which connects many tributaries and wildlife communities. Help us care for Little Bay by removing trash and debris from the shorelines this summer to keep the park a natural gem of Queens!
Waterfront Alliance and HarborLAB will provide some kayaks for volunteers to use during cleanup. Join us after the cleanup, for more free kayaking in the park from 12pm - 3:30pm.
Special thanks to Council Member Paul Vallone for his support in this cleanup.
