Hanover pond and q-trail cleanup

Hanover pond and q-trail cleanup

May 1, 2017

Meriden | Connecticut

June 17, 2017

78 lbs.

On June 17th, United by Blue teamed up with REI Milford and REI West Hartford for a cleanup of Hanover Pond and the Quinnipiac River Trail in Meriden, CT.  The Quinnipiac River passes through Hanover Pond, bringing trout (and fisherman) to its waters.  Along the pond is Hanover Trail, a haven for hikers, bikers and runners, and across the road is the Quinnipiac Trail, a designated CT Greenway! Due to the trails and waterway’s proximity to residential development and recreational use, litter and debris can find their way onto the trail and the banks of Hanover Pond and Quinnipiac River. In 2 hours, 12 dedicated volunteers were able to remove 78 lbs. of trash from the pond bank and trail. This was the final cleanup on the 2017 United by Blue x REI Cleanup Roadtrip. This cleanup also marked United by Blue's 200th cleanup!
