Schuylkill river cleanup

Schuylkill river cleanup

Jan 11, 2017

Philadelphia | Pennsylvania

March 7, 2017

6,113 lbs.

On March 7th, almost 200 volunteers welcomed Spring with trash grabber in hand at United by Blue's 8th annual Schuylkill River cleanup at Bartram's Garden! Bartram's Garden was home to one of America's first botanists, John Bartram, and is the oldest surviving botanical garden in North America. We've visited the grounds every year since 2010 to cleanup the river and preserve the area's natural beauty. We removed over 2,000 lbs of trash from the river and surrounding land and found some strange things along the way, including a snarky bumper sticker, retro toys, and a teapot!

A special thanks to all of our partners: Zipcar, Philadelphia Water Department, Philadelphia Parks and Recreation, Fairmount Park Conservancy, honeygrow, Inspired Brews, CLIF Bar and Bartram's Garden!
