250 lbs.

On March 12th, over 70 volunteers gathered at Baker Beach to join United By Blue for a cleanup of the San Francisco Bay. Outlined by cliffs with views of the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, Baker Beach is a symbol of San Francisco's juxtaposition of nature and the city. Historically, Baker Beach served as a Spanish military base known as the Presidio. Today, it is a part of Golden Gate National Recreation Area and administered by the National Park Service. Baker Beach is a place for relaxation and adventure for locals and tourists alike. In addition to cigarette butts, plastic bottles and bags, and old construction materials, volunteers also found a few strange items washed up on the beach including giant legos, a pair of Ugg boots and a car manual. In total, volunteers removed 250 lbs of trash at the cleanup.

A special thanks to all of our partners involved: Proof Lab, Surfrider SF, Klean Kanteen, National Park Service and Patagonia Provisions.
