Overview:
A United By Blue Barista is a person who both specializes in creating handcrafted coffee beverages and has a passion for sustainability. The Cafe Team Lead serves as a leader on the barista team. This individual will be responsible for a wide range of duties including, but not limited to, preparing and serving coffee beverages, serving pastry options, and educating customers on United By Blue’s mission. Not only must this person be proficient in coffee preparation, but this person must also educate the customer on United By Blue product and story behind our company. The Team Lead role also includes maintaining a strong presence among fellow baristas and cafe members and providing guidance to them.
What You’ll Do:
- Take the lead on training new cafe hires and continually educate staff about our coffee products and procedures
- Act as a point person on the floor - answering staff questions, offering guidance throughout each shift, and making sure prep and side-work are being completed
- Ensure daily flow is efficient and consistent and communicate to management team if procedure changes need to be made
- Assist management with light inventory
- Learn how to prepare our menu and share your menu knowledge
- Keep cafe fully stocked with perishable and dry goods
- Learn the Point of Sale system
Requirements:
- 2+ years industry experience
- Knowledge of traditional espresso and coffee drink preparation, including latte art and dialing in espresso
- Personal, outgoing and engaging
- Strong sense of urgency
- Detail orientedWilling to work flexible schedule
- Positive attitude
- Sustainability-focused lifestyle
- Leadership experience preferred
- ServSafe certification preferred
