United By Blue, a Philadelphia B-corporation, organized a cleanup of Tacony Creek with the help of 50 other B-corp volunteers from all over the world. With the help of the Philadelphia Water Department, B-Lab, One Village Coffeeand the Tookany/Tacony-Frankford (TTF) Watershed Partnership, volunteers were able to remove 1901 lbs of trash from the creek! Along the way, we found a bowling ball, a fruit basket, and a bicycle!

Location: Cobbs Creek, Philadelphia, PA

Even in the pouring rain, United By Blue and Youth Volunteer Corps of Philadelphiawere hard at work, hauling trash out of Cobbs Creek, a vital stream for wildlife and recreation in West Philadelphia. We were able to collect 510 lbs of trash including plastic bags, bottles, and household trash items.

United By Blue teamed up with The Fat Cardinal Bakery for a cleanup of Jamaica Bay in NYC! Jamaica Bay is wetland estuary, made up of many meadow lands, freshwater ponds, and islands and home to diverse wildlife species. It is a vital environment for both recreation and protective wildlife sanctuaries. Unfortunately, it is littered with trash and debris from neglectful visitors and still showing signs of Hurricane Sandy’s destruction in 2012. With the help of our volunteers, we were able to haul 630 lbs of this trash from the coastline!

Location:Cobbs Creek at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Philadelphia, PA
We teamed up with the Friends of Mt. Moriah, Philadelphia 76'ers, Tilden Middle School and Philadelphia Water to cleanup over 6 tons of trash from Cobbs Creek in West Philadelphia! United By Blue teamed up with Philadelphia Water, Partnership for the Delaware Estuary, the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) and Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful for an adventurous cleanup on the Delaware River. We took to the seas to find Philadelphia's own, Little Tinicum Island. As pollutants from the river flow south, much of the garbage and recyclables float to the shores of this island. With the help of 61 volunteers, we were able to haul 15,250 lbs of trash from the Delaware and the shoreline.

Location: Pier 68, Pier 70 Blvd, Philadelphia, PA 19148
Haul: 1987 lbs.
United By Blue teamed up with Philadelphia Water and Barefoot wine for a cleanup of the Delaware River along Pier 68 in South Philly. The Delaware is home to a large variety of fish and plant species, and has been a popular spot for fisherman and recreation. Due to its heavy use, it has collected a lot of debris and recyclables. With the help of 59 volunteers, we were able to haul 1987 lbs. of trash out of the river and from the the shoreline.

Location: Penn Treaty Park, 1301 N Beach St, Philadelphia, PA 19125
United By Blue, Philadelphia Parks and Recreation and Philadelphia Water returned to Penn Treaty Park for a cleanup of the Delaware River with Honeygrow! Penn Treaty park is a treasured greenspace in Philadelphia and a great place for picnics, dogs and fisherman alike! This popular park was in much need our attention as the trash piled up. Thanks to our 100 volunteers, we were able to cleanup 2,827. 5 lbs of trash from the park. We found things like old wooden boards, plastic bags and straws, other household waste, a lot of fishing line.

Location:Randall's Island, 10 Central Rd., New York, NY 10035
Haul: 869 lbs
United By Blue teamed up with REI and Randall's Island Park Alliance for a cleanup of Randall's Island/ Ward's Island. The surrounding waterways consist of salt marshes and freshwater wetlands which provide a precious habitat for wildlife and a large variety of recreation areas for sports, concerts, biking and running. With help of 70 volunteers, we were able to haul 869 lbs of trash from the shoreline including a crab trap, folding chair, and a giant block of Styrofoam. Location: City of Cuernavaca Park, Denver, CO
Haul: 309 lbs.
We visited the perpetually beautiful city of Denver on Saturday for a cleanup of the S. Platte River, a vital water source for many Denver residents. A group of dedicated volunteers worked throughout the morning to clean hundreds of pounds of trash from the river and Cuernavaca Park. Plastic, styrofoam and lots of clothing were recovered, along with a number of weird trash finds. Some submissions included a full outfit of clothing, a notebook filled with writing, the Bible and a water noodle. Special thanks to all of our wonderful volunteers, REI , Denver Parks and Recreation , The Greenway Foundation , Denver Beer Co and Klean Kanteen for their support!

Location: Valentino Pier & Park, Brooklyn, NY
Haul: 1,236 lbs.
The Upper Bay and the surrounding Red Hook waterfront features sweeping views of Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty, but unfortunately this historied shipping route is now polluted with plastic bags, wrappers, and household trash. Highlights from our haul include a costume nose and glasses, a water gun, and LOTS of lumber. Steve's Authentic Key Lime Pie graciously provided us with dessert -- limeade and mini key lime pies.

We met over 50 volunteers at Sunset Lake Park to pickup trash along the lake's shore, park, and adjoining streets.Volunteers hauled away plastic bottles, metal piping, and your garden variety household trash. Some of the strangest trash finds included a creepy doll head, a butcher's knife, and a vintage soda bottle. Huge thanks to our wonderful local volunteers who helped out, especially members from the newly-formed Sunset Lake Commission. United by Blue teamed up with Klean Kanteen and ChicoBag for a cleanup of Big Chico Creek and the surrounding park. Under a clear sky and bright sun, over 65 volunteers worked along the creek and park, picking up recyclables, household waste and a variety of weird trash, including a message in a [wine] bottle, a book of poetry, and jean shorts. At the heart of these three companies is a commitment to waterway and land conservation and reducing human reliance on single-use plastics. This cleanup is a manifestation of Klean Kanteen, Chico Bag and United by Blue's missions.
