Our Mission

For every product sold, United By Blue removes one pound of trash from our world's oceans and waterways.

We created this company because we wanted to make a bigger, more measurable impact on our oceans and encourage people to do the same. So we stopped simply writing checks and started organizing and hosting these cleanups. We wanted to do our part to clean the waterways ourselves.

That’s also why we take the care to create products that use responsible materials (like recycled polyester, which reuses plastic bottles so they won’t wind up in gyres). If you’d like to help, we’d love to see you at our next cleanup.

Date: July 12th, 2016

Location: Princeton Ave. and Milnor St., Philadelphia, PA

Time: 5,150 lbs.

After receiving a tip about this tiny sliver of park along the Delaware, we found it full of glass bottles, plastic, tires, short dumping and local neighbors and fisherman exhausted from dealing with the mess. After enjoying some fuel by the Living Room Cafe, we got to work. In just over one hour, and with the help of over 50 volunteers, we removed 5,150 lbs. of trash from the river, shoreline, pier and park! Volunteers were treated to ice cream for their hard work, courtesy of Little Baby's. The original weight taken at the cleanup (2,750) fell short of the actual total, which we tallied from a weigh slip report and bag weight totals from participating parties.

Special thanks to our wonderful volunteers, Power Corps PHL, Philadelphia Water, the Delaware River City Corporation, the Schuylkill Navy, Streets Dept., Philadelphia Parks and Rec, The Living Room Cafe, and Little Baby's Ice Cream for their support!
