Our Mission

For every product sold, United By Blue removes one pound of trash from our world's oceans and waterways.

We created this company because we wanted to make a bigger, more measurable impact on our oceans and encourage people to do the same. So we stopped simply writing checks and started organizing and hosting these cleanups. We wanted to do our part to clean the waterways ourselves.

That’s also why we take the care to create products that use responsible materials (like recycled polyester, which reuses plastic bottles so they won’t wind up in gyres). If you’d like to help, we’d love to see you at our next cleanup.

Date: Sept 21st, 2012

Location:  Moseley Woods Newburyport MA

Haul: 317.5 lbs

Just below the beautiful  Moseley Woods Park , the Merrimack River meets the sea, depositing litter it carries down from New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
On Friday, September 21st, Sperry Top-Sider’s corporate team spent the early afternoon picking up plastic pieces, Styrofoam bits, and beer cans from along the majestic river.

United By Blue and Sperry Top-Sider share a passion for our oceans and waterways: in 2012, we removed 4,180.5 pounds of trash from East Coast bayside beaches, riverside parks, and creekside banks with 146 volunteers. Our partnership goes beyond waterway cleanups, we’re also proud to collaborate on some of our super soft organic cotton slub jersey t-shirts, which are on sale  online and in Sperry stores across the country.

We'd like to thank the City of Newburyport for their help.
