Our Mission

For every product sold, United By Blue removes one pound of trash from our world's oceans and waterways.

We created this company because we wanted to make a bigger, more measurable impact on our oceans and encourage people to do the same. So we stopped simply writing checks and started organizing and hosting these cleanups. We wanted to do our part to clean the waterways ourselves.

That’s also why we take the care to create products that use responsible materials (like recycled polyester, which reuses plastic bottles so they won’t wind up in gyres). If you’d like to help, we’d love to see you at our next cleanup.

SIGN UP FOR A CLEANUP

Date: August 16th, 2014

Location: Patapsco Valley State Park, Woodstock Area

Haul: 1,700 lbs.

Under sunny skies and lush tree canopies, over 40 volunteers joined United By Blue for a massive cleanup along the Patapsco River. In just three hours we collected over 1,700 lbs. of trash, including a 190 lb. rusted wire doughnut! Strange trash recovered included an eye wash station, old school computer memory roll and sparkling windshield remnants. The American Canoe Association brought a handful of Stand-up Paddleboards (SUP), kyaks and canoes, which made all the difference in hauling tires from one end of the river to another. Volunteers were treated to a delicious brick oven pizza lunch, prepared on site!

Special thanks to those who made this possible, including:  Subaru of America, Inc., The Patapso Valley State Park Rangers,  JZ's Brick Oven PizzaAmerican Canoe Association and all of our great volunteers.
