Three questions

How cold are your days?

Below freezing, or sitting still in the cold: bison. Cold mornings that warm up: merino or the Bison Trail. Mild, or indoors: hemp.

How much cushion do you want?

Full cushion for boots and long days on your feet (Ultimate Bison, Bison Boot, Yak Full Cushion, Merino Graphic Crew). Half cushion for trail runners and everyday shoes (merino). Streamlined for dress shoes (Yak Everyday).

How high?

Boot height for tall boots. Crew for most things. Quarter just above the ankle. Low cut for sneakers, with a heel tab so the shoe does not rub.

Which is the warmest?

The Ultimate Bison Sock and the Bison Boot Sock. Both use BisonShield™ bison fiber with full cushion. The Boot is the same sock with a taller cuff.

Which socks are knit in the USA?

Every bison sock: the Ultimate Bison Sock, the Bison Boot Sock, and the Bison Trail crew, quarter and low-cut. The Yak Wool Full Cushion Boot Sock is too. The merino socks are made in China.

Do wool socks itch?

Yak wool is hypoallergenic and gentle on sensitive skin. Merino is fine and soft. Reviewers of the Ultimate Bison Sock regularly call out that there is no itch.

How should I wash them?

Machine wash cold, tumble dry low. Merino and yak go a few wears between washes.

What if I get the wrong size?

Free returns and exchanges on every sock. The Ultimate Bison Sock also carries a 30-day wear-them guarantee: wear it for a month and return it if it is not the warmest sock you own.
