Buffalo Bayou Cleanup 10.11 - Houston

On Friday morning, United by Blue, Buffalo Bayou Partnership, and OLIPOP teams arrived at Allen’s Landing. We mapped out our routes along the bayou and got ready to welcome over 85 volunteers.

In one morning we were able to remove: 311 pounds from Buffalo Bayou

Four teams set out on both land and water. One person went as far as to bring their own canoe which they carted down the pedestrian path.

All in all, we found some pretty weird pieces of trash including Halloween decorations, plant based protein powder, and a mysterious lock tied to some string.

Volunteers left with a renewed sense of purpose and notion that they, as individuals, can make an impact on large scale systemic issues like plastic pollution. Many were interested in becoming more involved in local community cleanups and wanted us to come back to host another volunteer cleanup this spring!
