“I've searched a long time for a raincoat, mostly a shell to wear over my fleece jacket. So happy I searched on eco-friendly and found United by Blue and in particular this raincoat. I got a large for layering and it's perfect. The wine color is beautiful. Wore it in a blizzard yesterday over my warmest fleece and the snow just slid off. The fit, adjustable cuffs, adjustable hood, velcro secured flap over the zipper, length, everything about it is perfect! A Rainy Day Shell

"I’ve been looking for a lightweight, waterproof jacket to wear when I walk my pup in the rain. This recycled rain shell is great. The small was a perfect choice; it gives me the option to layer. The fit is relaxed, but not too much so. The seams are well-reinforced. The color, wine, is exactly as pictured. The hood provides ample coverage without obscuring my vision. And the pockets are good, too. This jacket should serve me well spring into summer into fall."

One is supposed to use a "specialty soap" to wash this jacket, but no description is given. Please define and/or give an example of what is meant, please.
Hi Stephanie! Conventional laundry detergent can damage rain jackets and make them less waterproof, so we recommend using a technical wash made specifically for rain gear such as Nikwax.
I have extremely long arms - should I order the men's or the women's rain shell?
Hi Meg! You will get some extra length in the arms with the men's rain shell - for example, the women's size small has 25" sleeves and the men's size small has 26 3/4" sleeves. If you aren’t supposed to wash with detergent,what cleaning method is recommended?
Great question! Regular detergents can reduce the water repellent DWR finishing, so it is recommended that you use a specialty performance detergent (which can also help improve water repellency after long wear) or no detergent at all. Otherwise, this can be machine washed on cold and tumble dried on low as usual!
The jacket listed as black looks blue in the pictures. Is the color actually blue?
